Word Play

A woman of few words. That’s what I am attempting in this post. For someone who is used to writing page length narration on simple things, lamenting on the happenings of life for the last two years in a couple of words is a challenge. I’m trying to rise up to it, not to prove vocabulary excellence or poetic prudence, just for the thrill of it. Throwing in words at random without worrying about the grammatical correctness, here I am giving a gist of my life and hubby’s in the last two years – my marriage, new house, pregnancy, stress, childbirth and job change in rhyming syllables. I’ve already given credit to each of these in prior individual posts. Now is just a summary time!

Two long years,
Two love dears,
Too much chores.

Waltzed along,
Weak and strong;
Waiting throng.

Family made.
Flat purchased.
Fun evade.

Milestones crossed.
Memories chased.
Many days.

Pennies lost.
Playing cost,
Pregnant post.

Tired it got.
Things forgot.
Taunting thoughts.

Baby came,
Bringing fame,
Busy game!

Jobs changed,
Journey re-staged,
Just engaged.

Suddenly soon,
Sunlight shone,
Sorries gone.

No complain,
No bargain,
Normal again.

History short,
Happenings assort,
Happiness re-sought!

  1. Hi Archu,

good experiment πŸ™‚ and a tough one too for the descriptive prose lovers! However, it does lay out properly your journey of the last two years (coz the wordplay reminded me of my own similar experiment from a couple or more years ago “painted skies, viral curses” where I had to explain the meaning to you in a mail πŸ˜‰ Others didn’t bother to ask :P). Best of all, I like it that you can now say no more bargains πŸ™‚ That’s the right place to be! Congrats!! πŸ™‚

  2. @Harsha: Precise blah blah uhm? Thanks! πŸ™‚

@Meens:Right Meens. Short verses mean less liberality over language. Instead of we having command over the words, the words command us. Interesting experiment for crisp stuff. But when we need to vent out, nothing like long paragraphs πŸ˜€ Yeah, I remember your “painted skies and viral curses”…u’ve reminded me, I’ll go and re-read them again. No bargains, I like to too…I really hope this is “the” place to be (for me) πŸ™‚ Thanks Meens!

@Mathew: Thanks Mathew! Keep visiting my blogspot πŸ™‚

  3. @tekybala: Thanks! It was a very busy game actually πŸ™‚

@ayush: I’m no great judge but I went thru your blog anyways. Nice poems you have got there. Good work!
